Previous heart condition

UPDATE

12:50 p.m. PT — CBS Los Angeles Vice President and News Director Mike Dello Stritto tells TMZ:

UPDATE

“Our colleague Alissa Carlson became ill during our 7am newscast this morning. I want to thank her staff who immediately took steps to comfort Alissa and called 911. Alissa is being treated at the hospital right now. Hopefully we will know more soon. In the meantime, Alissa will be in our thoughts and we pray she gets much better soon.”

UPDATE

12:32 PM PTAlyssa Carlson took to Facebook to let everyone know that she is becomes ‘ok!’

A Los Angeles-based meteorologist fainted during a live TV broadcast over the weekend — and there’s still no word on her condition after the terrifying moment was caught on camera.
Alissa Carlson Schwartz helped CBS LA’s KCAL team kick off the newscast early Saturday morning, leading the 7:00 AM hour with a weather report on incoming rain for LA next week. But before she could even get into her report, she lost consciousness.
The video is absolutely horrifying … you see Carlson’s eyes roll to the back of her head and she starts leaning forward on the desk she was standing at. Eventually, she collapses completely.
As the two anchors noted at the beginning of the episode, Carlson was on set with them — but it looks like she might have been somewhere else … because they didn’t seem to notice that she passed out, before a few moments later. They panicked and went commercial.

It’s been a while now and there’s still no official update on how Carlson is doing. KCAL never returned to a live news report after this — the station opted to air pre-recorded/promotional programming for several hours. Currently they cover the NCAA.
Here’s the thing … Carlson had previously experienced a similar episode years ago – throwing up on set during a weather report when she was at another station – and as a result … she was diagnosed with a leaky heart valve. That was back in 2014.

It’s unclear if her previous diagnosis played any role in Saturday’s episode. We’ve reached out to KCAL for a statement … so far no word back. So far they have not addressed that at all.
