When you think of royal life, you probably think of the glitz, glamor and beautiful colorful outfits they always appear in. But as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have talked about over the past year, it’s anything but. In fact, former staffers go so far as to say that Meghan found this part of royal life “stupid” – and it seriously reminds us of Princess Diana.
According to Tom Quinn’s new book Gilded Youth According to MSN, Meghan reportedly found several aspects of royal life challenging, including finding the extensive and strict royal protocols to be “stupid”, according to a former palace staffer.

The staffer was quoted as saying in the forthcoming book: “She hated the restrictions and the rules; she hated being a second-rate princess – second only to Catherine Middleton, I mean.”
They added: “Most of all she hated the fact that she had to do what she was told and go where she was told in the endless and largely pointless royal round.”

Meghan is now not the only former royal to have reported problems with the strict protocols. Once again, she reminds us of her late mother-in-law Diana, who had also both reported problems with and broke many royal protocols. When Diana was an official royal, she broke protocol with her fashion, discussing politics and letting people see a more vulnerable side of herself.
For those who don’t know, royal protocols for the British royal family are intense to say the least. For example, you must wear natural makeup, always carry a wallet (even if it’s empty), reportedly can’t play Monopoly (yeah, super weird), can’t eat seafood, and must finish their meal after the ruling monarch is done with theirs, according to Marie Claire.
That’s only the tip of the iceberg, so it’s no wonder these two former royals reportedly found frustration in it.
